Children are a blessing from the Lord. With these blessings come responsibilities. As stewards of God’s children, parents are responsible for helping children grow physically, intellectually, emotionally, and spiritually. Churches also have a responsibility toward children, to provide for them an environment in which they are safe, are taught at an age-appropriate level, and are encouraged to develop a relationship with Jesus Christ.
Faith Kids is Showers of Blessings Church Children’s Ministry. It focuses on helping our children know Jesus, rather than just know about Jesus. Our job is to prepare the soil of children’s hearts so seeds of faith can grow, and a true relationship with Jesus can happen. We accept that Children’s ministry is a process that connects children with Jesus and His story.
To elaborate:
It is helping children become more like Jesus over time. The process begins when we invite children to connect with Jesus and His story. It develops as the grace and glory of Jesus are revealed. The aim of the process is for children to become committed to Jesus.
Children’s ministry is relational. It happens when children get together with Jesus, i.e. when they’re increasingly captivated by Him. The connection begins as children see the glory, wonder and beauty of Jesus; embrace Him in their hearts, and genuinely surrender their lives to live for Him. It matures as they worship and walk in His ways (Philippians 2:10-11, Psalm 128:1).
Children’s ministry relies on activities in which children engage with God’s story and receive and re-enact it by actively engaging in it. When children internalize God’s Story, it gives meaning and value to their lives. It matures as children obey and live out the Story in their daily lives.
Sunday School is regarded as a critical component of the church as it provides a forum for exploring, discussing and learning the word of God and its application to one’s life.
At Showers of Blessings Apostolic, our Sunday School classes are tailored to the stage of development of the students. Classes begin with children as young as three years and progress through to adults.
Classes are held each Sunday beginning at 9:30 a.m.

Youth Ministry has opportunities for spiritual development, Christian education and training, service and fun.
Our young people are passionate about Christ and the work He has called them to do.
We want our youth to grow deeper in the person, character and knowledge of Jesus Christ. We provide opportunities for leadership and mentorship.
We provide a platform for youth to actively engage in service to others. One of the many outreach activities led by the youth at Showers of Blessings Apostolic Church is the annual cleaning and preparation of one residence for a new family at Sonshine Services in Calgary. Sonshine offers shelter and support to women and their children fleeing domestic violence. The youth also plan and stage the annual Parking Lot Praise concert in the summer.
The Youth Ministry meets every Tuesday at 7pm for worship, discussions, Bible study, training and other activities. Youth Sunday is observed on the 3rd Sunday of each month.
